5 June is dedicated annually World Environment Daywhich was first proclaimed in 1972 at the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm. The first celebrations took place in 1973 with the motto "Only One Earth". Since then, it has become the largest global platform for promoting environmental awareness and action.
Ecological impact of different fuels
In domestic heating, fuel choice plays a major role in the production of greenhouse gas emissions. Below is a comparison of the CO₂ emissions of different fuels per unit of energy produced:

Remark: For biomass (firewood and pellets), the value depends on the moisture content of the fuel, the method of combustion and the source of the wood. The lowest emissions are achieved by modern automated pellet boilers or efficient stoves, fireplaces or stove inserts with Ecodesign certification.
The importance of ecological heating
Switching to renewable and low-emission heat sources such as firewood and pellets, contributing to:
- Reduction of CO₂ emissions and dependence on fossil fuels
- Promoting the circular economy and local resources
- Sustainable forest management
- Maintaining heat availability even in energy-strained periods
