Stove builders all over the country opened their workshops and proved that wood heating belongs to the modern age.

On Friday 7 November 2025, dozens of stove workshops, showrooms and production facilities opened across the Czech Republic. Stove Day, organized by the Stove Makers Guild of the Czech Republic with the support of the Association for Ecological Wood Heating (AEVD), had one goal - to show that stoves are not a thing of the past, but a modern, ecological and beautiful part of today's homes.

„The aim was to show that the stove is not a relic of the past, but a modern, aesthetic and ecological way of heating that has a firm place in today's world,“ summarized Michal Bartoška, chairman of the AEVD.

The wood smelled all over the country

The inspiration for the Czech Stove Day was the Austrian „Tag des Kachelofens“, which has been held there for fourteen years. Dozens of workshops and shops were involved in the Czech premiere - from Bechyně to Varnsdorf. Visitors were able to see how stoves are built, how they work and what a stove maker's job entails.

In Soběslav, people could try decorating ceramic tiles at the Fire Factory Distribution. „Many people are surprised by how much handwork is behind each tile,“ says Jitka Pokorná, who also took part in the event.

And elsewhere? Bread was baked in ovens, cooked on tiled stoves, chimneys and modern combustion systems were tested.

My hat is off to this work

Positive feedback also came from Varnsdorf, where the gates of HAAS+SOHN Rukov production were opened. According to the company's PR manager, Michaela Cintlová, the Stove Day was a success beyond expectations. Everyone gave it a very positive review.„

„So I was in Haas, I'll tell you, I was surprised to see a woman. The gentleman showed us from the material storage to the finished stove. I take my hat off to this job. No wonder the stoves are so expensive, the machines are automated, lasers, computer controlled, the stove, everything is expensive, but the results are beautiful and useful, now improved and making it easier to work and maintain the stove at home. The most expensive ones are about 50k, depending on the customer's requirement. It was interesting, we have something to talk about at home.“

Myths about wood heating are disappearing

Stove Day was also about education. The Association for Ecological Wood Heating used the event to show the public that wood heating is not an afterthought. Modern stoves meet strict emission limits and burn wood with high efficiency.

„Wood is a natural and renewable source of energy, which, if used properly, has its irreplaceable place,“ says Michal Bartoška. AEVD has long pointed out that the key is proper heating - dry wood, a clean chimney and regular servicing.

Come and hang out - and stay by the fire for a while

The motto of the event „Just come and hang out“ captured the atmosphere of the day perfectly. People stopped, asked, tried, and most importantly - stayed. „Everyone who came left with the feeling that heating with wood is not only practical, but also beautiful,“ concludes Michal Bartoška, chairman of the AEVD.

Already the first year of the Stove Day in the Czech Republic has shown that there is a great interest in the stove craft and modern wood heating among people. This is a good signal for the future. Just like in Austria, Stove Day has the ambition to become an annual tradition in this country, which commemorates the importance of honest craftsmanship and the culture of wood heating.
The craft of stonemasonry attracts with its authenticity - the smell of wood, the living fire and the opportunity to see the work that gives warmth to homes. The event thus offers not only inspiration, but also a space for meeting and open education about modern wood heating.
