The amount of fuel added should correspond to the manufacturer's recommendation stated in the manual or technical data sheet. Correct dosing is important for stable and efficient combustion. An overheated firebox can worsen combustion, resulting not in greater thermal comfort, but in more smoke. Furthermore, at high temperatures, premature degradation of materials in the firebox can occur.
Attach at the right moment
It's not just what you use to heat your home that's important, but also when and how you add fuel. It's best to add fuel when there are no more flames or smoke in the firebox and a layer of glowing embers remains. It's also important to open the door slowly to equalize the pressure and prevent smoke from entering the room. Even such a small detail affects the comfort and cleanliness of operation.
Clean heating doesn't work without maintenance.
Regular maintenance is not a formality, but a part of low-emission operation. Manufacturers recommend following the manual, not underestimating heater maintenance, and also paying attention to the condition of the flue paths. When a heater or chimney becomes clogged, it's not just about safety, but also about combustion becoming less efficient and clean.
Minimizing emissions when heating with wood is not complicated. It mainly depends on the combination of a quality heater, dry fuel, and proper operation. These seemingly simple principles are what determine whether heating with wood will work effectively, safely, and with the least possible impact on the air.
