A year ago, the Association for Ecological Wood Heating (AEVD) was first presented to the public. We held our first press conference to introduce the association and its mission on 14 October 2024. In twelve months, our trade group has managed to gain a firm foothold in the public debate on wood heating - whether in the media, at trade fairs or at the negotiating tables, including in Brussels.
Since its inception, AEVD has opposed misinformation and advocated for a humane approach to regulations that affect Czech wood heating households. It publishes expert articles, fights misinformation, educates the professional and lay public, responds to EC ecodesign proposals and draws attention to their real impacts. The Association has thus earned respect as a competent and constructive partner in the debate on energy and ecology. This is not only in the Czech Republic, but also with foreign partners.
But it doesn't just stop at politics. AEVD also covers everyday topics of interest to ordinary stove users - how to heat properly, when to order wood, how to care for a stove or chimney, etc.
The Association was also highly visible at the FOR ARCH fair, where it had its own lecture hall in addition to an educational stand. It offered an extensive programme for experts and the general public with eighteen lectures over five days, including a debate with representatives of the MIT and the Ministry of the Environment. It publishes regular articles, develops cooperation with professional magazines and helps to unite industry voices across the Czech Republic.
In one year of existence, AEVD has transformed from a new initiative into a respected voice in the field. Its positions are beginning to resonate with the public and the authorities, and the association is showing that green wood heating has a future in the energy mix.
After the first year, the AEVD is on solid ground. It has a clear direction, growing support and a desire to continue to prove that wood heat is ecological, economical and has an irreplaceable place in Czech households.
